Background

GWP Construction, Inc. was started (as South Marion Underground Inc.) in 1997 after the owner, Gary W. Pauley, left his previously co-owned business of over 30 years. It is a family operated business located in Ocala, Florida. South Marion Underground, Inc.’s name was changed to GWP Construction in June 2006. The primary goal of GWP is to provide a quality project for a fair price. The integrity of ownership is shared across all personnel of the company.

Project Diversity

GWP Construction Inc. has diverse project capabilities. Our focus is on residential subdivisions, and municipal infrastructure improvements. The work area primarily includes Marion, Lake and Sumter Counties. GWP’s bond line is sufficient to bond any of our jobs which is an indication of the strength of the company. The diversity of managements’ capabilities gives us the capacity to handle very large projects effectively. Each project is evaluated carefully and the management of it is created to meet the design and phasing of the project. Each project handled uniquely.

Utility Construction

Utility construction requires a constant evaluation of materials, equipment and personnel. Installation of pipe requires strategy to coordinate pipe installation, testing and inspection. Jobs are completed in phases which allow sections to be turned over to road construction team so that the crews are able to mobilize to the job and remain dedicated until completion, thus reducing costs. GWP has this experience; to meet milestones and construct the job in an organized manner.

Site work/ Roadwork

GWP Construction Inc. has always been involved in site work, however in 2004 the decision was made to actively pursue this type of work. Our diverse types of business and geographic work area have been beneficial to GWP in developing many relationships with other construction partners and suppliers. While subcontracts are limited, in situations where it is most beneficial, GWP partners with the most qualified and respected.

Corporate Infrastructure

We have implemented a project management system using a proprietary software system that assists us in managing the income and expenses of each job. This system assists in scheduling, materials management, invoicing, tracking change orders and ultimately meeting completion deadlines.

Safety

The management has focused very seriously on the safety program. This program includes a monthly company wide meeting. In addition employees are on a monetary reward system for reducing safety infractions. The safety team includes a dedicated safety inspector which makes frequent visits to every site.
